## What users report

Mixed-to-positive: 'roughly the recreational value of a cup of coffee' but easier sustained focus, sometimes reduced anxiety; strongly route-dependent (oral often does nothing, sublingual/nasal works). Perhaps 35-45% notice little. Common complaints are headaches and irritability at higher doses and insomnia for sensitive users. A small tail report anhedonia, dissociation or brain fog after a dose, usually gone in days but in one case lasting weeks.

**Effects:** easier sustained concentration; faster creative/writing work; presence, less brain fog; stimulant synergy

**Downsides:** headache (often attributed to low choline); irritability at high doses; insomnia in sensitive users; poor oral bioavailability

**Caveat:** Not really a peptide: a dipeptide-derived prodrug (to cycloprolylglycine). Over-the-counter supplement status in many countries; no serious safety signal in the Russian literature.

**Typical use:** 10-30 mg/day sublingual (or 5-10 mg nasal), split 1-2x, not daily indefinitely.

**Getting it:** Over-the-counter drug in Russia; unapproved in the US and EU, sold online as powder, capsules or nasal spray with unreliable labelling.

**Stacked with:** Choline (alpha-GPC or CDP-choline) (Most often added on the belief it prevents noopept headaches; a few users find the extra choline itself causes fatigue, reflux or low mood.); Caffeine or prescription stimulants (Adderall, modafinil) (Commonly used as an adjunct: users say it adds processing and recall to the stimulant's drive, though one reports irritability at interruptions.); L-theanine (Taken alongside to blunt the edginess or anxiety some get from noopept.)

## Risk profile

- **Seen harm 1/3:** Russian trials and an 18-study review report only mild, transient adverse events. Two first-hand reports describe lasting harm (derealization and anhedonia over seven weeks, and memory loss), which are isolated and unverified.
- **Mechanism 1/3:** A dipeptide prodrug of cycloprolylglycine that raises hippocampal NGF and BDNF in rats; no pathway to serious harm is established, and the label's only notable reaction is a rise in blood pressure in people with hypertension.
- **Data gap 1/3:** An over-the-counter drug in Russia with controlled trials (largest n=150) and a 1,279-patient systematic review of mostly open-label studies.
- **Silent harm 1/3:** Headache, overstimulation and mood effects are felt within hours, though the rare dissociative reports lingered for weeks.
- **Product 2/3:** Unapproved in the US and EU, so people buy powders, capsules and nasal sprays from nootropic vendors; US 'cognitive' supplements tested held up to four times the drug dose, 75% of declared amounts were wrong and some carried undeclared drugs.
- **Never if:** Severe liver or kidney impairment (label); Pregnancy or breastfeeding (label); Under 18 (label); Uncontrolled hypertension
