# Bronchogen

Khavinson's bronchial tetrapeptide AEDL; rat COPD studies and cell work, barely any first-hand reports.

- Page: https://peprank.xyz/peptides/bronchogen
- Goals: Immune, Recovery & healing (Research peptide)
- Also known as: AEDL; Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu; peptide complex AKS-B; Бронхоген
- Routes: Injection / Oral
- Safety tier: Strict: Caution · Balanced: Caution · Evidence only: Clean
- Risk axes (0 none to 3 severe): Seen harm 0, Mechanism 1, Data gap 3, Silent harm 1, Product 3
- Positive: 45% of 3 graded reports glowing or positive, shrunk toward the 49% all-report average by 8 reports' weight
- Rank: #24 of 86 research peptides
- Graded reports: 3 (Positive 1, Mixed 1, Nothing 1)
- Evidence: Animal only — Two rat studies of a nitrogen-dioxide COPD model from a St Petersburg pulmonology institute (a month of Bronchogen reversed goblet-cell hyperplasia, metaplasia and neutrophilic inflammation), the developers' cell-culture and DNA-binding work, and patent toxicity tests in rodents. No human study has been published; the Russian capsules are sold as a food supplement on the strength of the animal work.
- Access: Grey market
- Onset: Not felt acutely; the few users judged it over a course of weeks.
- Lasts: Taken as 1-month capsule courses repeated every 4-6 months, or 10-30 day injection cycles; the one detailed report says the benefit faded within a couple of months.
- Cost per month: ≈ €60–120 (researchers' estimate)
- Updated: 2026-10-30

## What users report

Far too few reports to judge. Two genuine first-hand accounts were found: an asthmatic who ran it with Chonluten felt better during the course, then the asthma came back worse within a couple of months; and someone who took it for a few weeks, accidentally more than intended, describes much deeper breathing. One X user lists it among peptides that did nothing for him. A biohacking coach who reviews products says it helped his asthma without an inhaler, kept out of the counts. Everything else on Reddit is smokers, COPD, asthma and pulmonary-fibrosis patients asking for a protocol, plus vendor-affiliate guides. Felt nothing: Too few reports to count (two first-hand Reddit reports and one X post).

**Effects:** claimed: easier breathing and fewer flare-ups in asthma, chronic bronchitis or COPD (two first-hand reports, one mixed); claimed: lung recovery after smoking (manufacturer)

**Downsides:** benefit, if any, may not outlast the course; grey-market 20 mg vials are dosed about ten times the Russian capsules, with no published rationale; no effect can be separated from inhalers or the Chonluten usually taken with it

**Risks:** In human bronchial-epithelium cultures it raised the proliferation marker Ki67 and the anti-apoptotic protein Mcl-1, most strongly in 'old' cultures; a single-group in-vitro signal of unknown meaning; Grey-market injectable vials: purity, sterility and identity unverified

**Caveat:** The case for Bronchogen in the lungs is stronger than for Chonluten, since it has actually been tested in airway cells and in a rat COPD model by a pulmonology group, but nobody has published a human study, and the developers' own papers disagree on how to write the sequence (Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu in the patent and most papers, Ala-Asp-Glu-Leu in two). AEDL is a small acidic tetrapeptide with no named harm pathway; the in-vitro rise in proliferation and anti-apoptotic markers is the only signal and is unreplicated. Injected grey-market vials at milligram doses are a different exposure from the 100 mcg capsules, and some vendor pages print AEDL on Cartalax (which is AED), so a vial's identity is worth checking.

**Typical use:** Grey-market vials: users describe about 1-2 mg a day subq for 10-20 days, a dose with no published basis. Capsules: 1-2 capsules (100-200 mcg) once or twice a day with meals for 1 month, repeated after 4-6 months (Russian label).

**Getting it:** Two forms share the name. Russian capsules (peptide complex AKS-B, labelled 100 mcg Bronchogen per 0.2 g capsule) are sold as a food supplement in Russian pharmacies and by bioregulator shops in the EU; Western research vendors such as Swiss Chems sell 20 mg vials of AEDL powder for injection. Chonluten (EDG) is the other Khavinson lung peptide and is often sold beside it.

**Stacked with:** Chonluten (The usual pairing for asthma, COPD or ex-smokers' lungs; the one detailed first-hand report ran both.); Taxorest (lung extract capsules) (The manufacturer recommends a course of the natural lung extract after Bronchogen; no reports of the sequence.)

## Risk profile

- **Seen harm 0/3:** No serious adverse event has been reported in any source or first-hand account, but the zero reflects almost no documented human exposure (two first-hand Reddit reports and no published human study), not reassurance.
- **Mechanism 1/3:** No named pathway to serious harm. The only signal is the developers' in-vitro work, in which AEDL raised the proliferation marker Ki67 and the anti-apoptotic protein Mcl-1 in human bronchial-epithelium cultures, most in 'aged' ones, and appeared to bind DNA; single-group and unreplicated, so speculative. The rat COPD studies reported repair, not harm.
- **Data gap 3/3:** Registered nowhere as a drug and no published human safety data for AEDL: the record is two rat COPD-model studies, cell cultures and the patent's rodent toxicity tests. The Russian capsules are sold as a food supplement without a human trial.
- **Silent harm 1/3:** With no credible mechanism, rated on the most plausible harms: injection-site or allergic reactions to grey-market vials and stomach upset from capsules, mostly noticed at once and gone with the course.
- **Product 3/3:** Western users mostly buy grey-market 20 mg vials of AEDL powder (Swiss Chems among others) for subcutaneous injection, of unverified purity and sterility; the Russian 100 mcg capsules sold as a supplement are the lower-risk alternative. Some vendor copy confuses AEDL with Cartalax, so identity is a real question.
- **Never if:** Pregnancy or breastfeeding (no human reproductive data; the Russian label also excludes them); Asthma or COPD patients replacing prescribed inhalers or steroids with it

## Studies

- [Kuzubova et al. 2015: Peptide therapy and bronchial epithelium in rats with obstructive lung pathology](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26468022/) (animal, 2015): In rats given 60 days of nitrogen dioxide to model COPD, a month of Bronchogen removed goblet-cell hyperplasia, squamous metaplasia, lymphocytic infiltration and emphysema, restored ciliated cells and secretory IgA, and reduced neutrophilic inflammation in lavage fluid.
- [Titova et al. 2017: Anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect of peptide therapy in a model of obstructive lung pathology (Russian)](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30199201/) (animal, 2017): Same NO2 rat model: after a course of the tetrapeptide, lavage cell counts, pro-inflammatory cytokines and enzymes normalised and secretory IgA and surfactant protein B rose. Pulmonology institute, not the Khavinson institute itself.
- [Khavinson et al. 2014: Peptide regulation of gene expression and protein synthesis in bronchial epithelium (Lung)](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25015171/) (in-vitro, 2014): In human embryonic bronchial-epithelium cultures it changed Ki67, Mcl-1, p53, CD79 and NOS-3 levels, most strongly raising proliferation in late-passage cultures, and switched on differentiation and mucin genes (NKX2-1, FOXA1/2, MUC4, MUC5AC, SFTPA1); spectroscopy suggested DNA binding. Written here as Ala-Asp-Glu-Leu, the group's other papers and patent give Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu.
- [Khavinson et al. 2012: Peptides tissue-specifically stimulate cell differentiation during their aging](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22808515/) (in-vitro, 2012): Bronchogen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu) raised the differentiation factors CXCL12 and Hoxa3 in human bronchial epithelial cells, more in aged cultures; Pancragen and Vesugen did the same in their own tissues.
- [Zakutskii et al. 2006: Tissue-specific effect of synthetic peptide bioregulators in organotypic cultures from young and old rats (Russian)](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17152728/) (animal, 2006): At 0.05 ng/ml, Bronchogen stimulated growth of lung explants from young and 18-month-old rats, as Cardiogen, Prostamax and Pancragen did in heart, prostate and pancreas.
- [US Patent 7,625,870: Peptide substance restoring respiratory organs function (Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu)](https://patents.google.com/patent/US7625870B2/en) (animal, 2009): The developers' patent: synthesis, rat lung-injury experiments, and acute (mice, up to 5 mg/kg) and 90-day (rats) intramuscular toxicity tests reported as non-toxic. No human example.
