# Cerebrolysin

Pig-brain peptide mix for stroke/TBI; strong anecdotes, real safety questions.

- Page: https://peprank.xyz/peptides/cerebrolysin
- Category: Neuroprotection & repair (Research peptide)
- Also known as: FPF-1070; porcine brain-derived peptide preparation
- Routes: Nasal / Injection / IV
- Safety tier: Strict: Avoid · Balanced: Avoid · Evidence only: Avoid
- Risk axes (0 none to 3 severe): Seen harm 2, Mechanism 2, Data gap 1, Silent harm 1, Product 3
- Positive: 40% of 29 graded reports glowing or positive, shrunk toward the 49% all-report average by 8 reports' weight
- Rank: #55 of 61 research peptides
- Graded reports: 29 (Glowing 6, Positive 5, Mixed 3, Nothing 5, Negative 5, Bad reaction 5)
- Evidence: Approved drug — in roughly 40+ countries, mainly Eastern Europe and Asia (not US/UK); human RCTs (stroke), mixed
- Access: Approved drug
- Onset: Some feel calm, sleepiness or a mood lift after the first injection; most say benefits build over 1-3 weeks of daily dosing. Brain fog and fatigue in the first days, or a slump in week 2, are common.
- Lasts: Cumulative rather than per-dose: users report benefits lasting weeks to a few months after a 4-week course, then fading.
- Cost per month: ≈ €140–540 (researchers' estimate)
- Updated: 2026-10-30

**Why Avoid under the strict bar:** Cochrane found more non-fatal serious adverse events than placebo; animal-derived injectable with allergy/immune reaction risk.

## What users report

Strong anecdotes, especially from TBI, long-COVID and stutter users (sleep, recall, mood, anxiety), with cycle-and-repeat loyalty. Perhaps 25-35% notice nothing after a full cycle, a recurring group feels much worse for 1-3 weeks mid-cycle, and there are a few alarming threads (persistent dysautonomia, small-fibre neuropathy) after injection or nasal use.

**Effects:** better sleep; recall and word-finding after brain injury; reduced anxiety/panic; mood lift

**Downsides:** IM injection pain, light-headedness; mid-cycle fog/fatigue/emotional lows; cost and sourcing (counterfeits; only EVER Pharma considered genuine)

**Risks:** Cochrane 2023 (7 RCTs, 1773 pts): more non-fatal serious adverse events than placebo, RR 2.39 (95% CI 1.10-5.23), moderate certainty; animal-derived protein mix: anaphylaxis/allergy; labelled contraindications include epilepsy and severe renal impairment; anecdotal autoimmune-type reactions (neuropathy, persistent dysautonomia), especially after nasal use

**Typical use:** 5-10 mL IM daily, 5 on/2 off for 4 weeks (community); higher IV doses clinically.

**Getting it:** Pharmacy drug in Austria, Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia and Latin America (sold as Renacenz in Mexico); not approved in the US or UK, where people import it from online pharmacies or buy from a few US compounding pharmacies. Chinese 'cerebroprotein hydrolysate' vials are a different, unverified product.

**Stacked with:** Cortexin (Often run together (Cerebrolysin used to reconstitute the Cortexin vial) or rotated between courses.); Semax or Selank (Common companions in TBI and anxiety protocols; one user found Cerebrolysin removed Semax's insomnia.); Growth hormone (Some heavy users claim synergy; GH lethargy plus Cerebrolysin brain fog was described as brutal at higher doses.); Stimulants and dopaminergic drugs (Users report it raises sensitivity to stimulants and nicotine, so doses that were normal before can feel too strong.)

## Risk profile

- **Seen harm 2/3:** A trial SAE signal: Cochrane (7 RCTs, 1,773 patients) found more non-fatal serious adverse events than placebo (RR 2.39, 95% CI 1.10-5.23, moderate certainty). Its label lists very rare shock-like reactions, a lab-confirmed life-threatening anaphylaxis was published in 2024, and several first-hand reports describe small-fibre neuropathy lasting months, including from genuine pharmacy product; no death is reliably attributed.
- **Mechanism 2/3:** An undefined mix of porcine brain peptides given by injection: immune and allergic activation is credible, and the label warns that seizure frequency may rise in epilepsy.
- **Data gap 1/3:** Approved in Austria, Russia and many other countries for decades, with RCTs totalling 1,773 stroke patients, but not approved by EMA centrally or FDA.
- **Silent harm 1/3:** Anaphylaxis and infusion reactions are immediate; the neuropathy reports began within days but persisted for months.
- **Product 3/3:** Injected ampoules bought from export pharmacies or compounders, with counterfeits reported; some users improvise nasal use.
- **Never if:** Epilepsy, especially status epilepticus (label); Severe kidney impairment (label); Allergy to porcine proteins; Pregnancy or breastfeeding (no human reproductive data)

## Top reports
